What a fast weekend! I went to Utah Friday afternoon and came home Sunday. My nephew got married Saturday! Glad to be back safe and sound!!
Hope everyone had a great weekend.
3 days of Grade 1 left. The older you get, the faster time flies!! It is a little scary, especially at my age!
*No more home reading slips sent in. Keep reading at least twice a week during the holidays. BEWARE OF BRAIN DRAIN during the summer. Students regress with their reading unless you read a few times a week. Good luck!! I'm sending a few paper booklets home to read for the summer. Hopefully you have saved the others that have been sent previously.

June 13 - 17
What a busy week. I moved every thing out of my classroom Wednesday and Thursday. Amazing what you can do in two days. All but 6 teachers have to move to a new classroom. We are now in Mr. Jensen's classroom for the rest of the year.
I spent 18 hours this weekend setting up our new room so that it would make everyone feel at ease!
*Monday morning I have to go to the Regional Hospital for a bone scan on my foot. I will be back for the afternoon.
*Spelling - Great job! We will be practicing our spelling words for the week, but there will not be a test on Friday. YEAH!!
*Home Reading - Keep reading! I will be sending home some more paper booklets to read for the summer. These will really help your child be better prepared for Grade 2 if you practice reading them.
*Next year I won't be teaching Grade 1. I will be a reading intervention teacher for kindergarten to Grade 6. Even though I am looking forward to my new challenge next year, it was hard walking out of my classroom Friday afternoon knowing I will never have a class of my own again. I just want you to know how much I have enjoyed my class this year. It is such an awesome experience to see the improvement that a child makes from September to June. Thank you for being such supportive parents and caring so much about your child's education.

Please make sure your child has a bag to put their wet suit and towel in.

Students are participating as individuals. Grades 1 and 2 will be running and swimming only. The swim for Grades 1/2 will be in the shallow end of the pool and even a non-swimmer would be able to complete the course. The race will start at the bleachers and the student will run 1 lap around the track and then runs across the road to the pool to complete their event. Students then swim or walk their leg. Students who participate in the Biathlon/Triathlon will be allowed in the pool right after their age group is done. Please return the green form by Tuesday, June 14.

May 30 - June 3
I'm glad everyone survived the cool rainy week. If it doesn't quit, I'm going to have to get webbed feet and oil on my back, so that I can enjoy it with the ducks. Here's to warm weather soaking into my old bones!
Thanks to parents who were able to come at the last minute to our Endurance Run on Wednesday afternoon. Students did a great job. This is not an easy race for Grade 1 students to run.
*Spelling Test - Thursday, June 2. Students were excited that we didn't have a test on Friday.
*Marathon Club - Students weren't too thrilled about running in the rain. They did it though and then they were ready to come in to the room and sit around my floor heater. It was cool to watch. I should have taken a picture of them. If raining, send dry clothes.
*Running Shoes are wanted at all time. Students can't run races in gum boots!
*Home Reading - Thanks for the help with the home reading. Don't slack off, because students already lose too much ground during July and August if they don't read. Hope you saved the story booklets to use during the holidays or attend the public library to check out books and attend their summer programs.
*Math Meeting in Cardston - I won't be attending the meeting now. I am glad to stay with my class.
*Lost and Found - Check it out because you might be surprised at what is there!
*Warm coats - If am amazed that students are not dressing warmer for the cold rainy weather. We go outside, so please help your child be prepared for the weather. Overdress them because they can always take it off.
*Gates- MacGinite Reading Test - All Grade 1 student will be writing this test this week. Try to have your child in bed early this week. It does make a difference when students are being tested.
*Ivy Coppieters has a new baby sister who was born on Friday, May 20. She has anxiously been awaiting her baby sister, Kenzi for months. Ivy, you will be an awesome helper!
*Website - Dancemat.com - Typing - good for practicing correct fingers on the computer.
*Freezies - Since Sports Day has been postponed, students can still order freezeies for Sports Day - $ .50.
June is here this week. Now that we haven't had spring, maybe summer might arrive a little earlier. I'm hoping!
*Thanks for sending me a note when your child is going home with a friend. This is the time of year when students are trying to make their own arrangements without letting their parents know.

*Check Lost and Found - Lots of treasures in the box.
Remember to call me if you have any concerns.
This is going to be a fast week. June is on its way. "Enjoy Your Crew!"

May 16 - 20
We are half way through the month.
Field trip to Aggie Days was awesome. Everyone had a lot of fun seeing and learning about farm animals, irrigation, crops, etc. We had hoped to see sheep shearing and cow milking. We also enjoyed eating our lunches at Henderson Lake and playing on the new playground equipment. A special thank you to Britton Harker's mom. Julia Wert's mom, Halle Galbraith's mom. Oakley Hirsche's dad, Raegan Fichten's dad, and Max Rompain's dad for being parent helpers.
*Character Education- Initiative
*May 16 - 20 Walk and Run - 8:00 - 8:25 a.m. Parents are encouraged to participate. Students and staff will earn popsicle sticks. The class in each grade that has the most popsicle sticks by the end of the week will be the winner of a popsicle party on Fri., May 20.
*Water Bottles - Still a few students who haven't brought theirs back.
*Lost & Found - Check periodically.
*Bicycle Safety - Mr. Hogg is concerned about the safety of each student in our school. He talked to them over the intercom this week about being careful because he has had reports of carelessness.
*Home Reading - We have 5 more weeks of home reading. Make sure you do not give up early. If your child doesn't read during the months of May, June, July, and August, they will really fall behind. Help them retain the skills they have worked so hard to learn.
*Spelling Test - Students did a fantastic job! Words really were harder and I'm so pleased with how well they did.
*Marathon Club - Every Wednesday and Thursday at noon. Students run first and then eat their lunch. A good snack at recess on those days would probably really help your child if they are involved with this club. Congratulations to those who love to run or who are learning to love to run.
*Running Shoes - Please make sure that your child always has a pair at school.
*Absent - Thanks for sending worksheets back when your child is absent.
*May 23 - Victoria Day - Enjoy the long weekend coming up!
