June 13 - 17

What a busy week. I moved every thing out of my classroom Wednesday and Thursday. Amazing what you can do in two days. All but 6 teachers have to move to a new classroom. We are now in Mr. Jensen's classroom for the rest of the year.
I spent 18 hours this weekend setting up our new room so that it would make everyone feel at ease!
*Monday morning I have to go to the Regional Hospital for a bone scan on my foot. I will be back for the afternoon.
*Spelling - Great job! We will be practicing our spelling words for the week, but there will not be a test on Friday. YEAH!!
*Home Reading - Keep reading! I will be sending home some more paper booklets to read for the summer. These will really help your child be better prepared for Grade 2 if you practice reading them.
*Next year I won't be teaching Grade 1. I will be a reading intervention teacher for kindergarten to Grade 6. Even though I am looking forward to my new challenge next year, it was hard walking out of my classroom Friday afternoon knowing I will never have a class of my own again. I just want you to know how much I have enjoyed my class this year. It is such an awesome experience to see the improvement that a child makes from September to June. Thank you for being such supportive parents and caring so much about your child's education.
*Swimming - We are swimming Monday, Wednesday & Thursday. We are excited.
Please make sure your child has a bag to put their wet suit and towel in.
*Lost & Found - Come and check it out!
**Drop-in-Soccer - Drop in at the ice arena to play some soccer! Admission $2.00 or $25.00 for a summer pass
Kids - July & August - Monday & Wednesday - 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Adults - July & August - 8:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.
*Summer Fest - July 29 - 30 - Triathlon, Hoop Fest, Raymond's Got Talent, etc.
*Biathlon/Triathlon - Tuesday. June 21 from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Students in Grade 1 and 2 are encouraged to participate in the 2 events of running and swimming. Students are participating as individuals. Grades 1 and 2 will be running and swimming only. The swim for Grades 1/2 will be in the shallow end of the pool and even a non-swimmer would be able to complete the course. The race will start at the bleachers and the student will run 1 lap around the track and then runs across the road to the pool to complete their event. Students then swim or walk their leg. Students who participate in the Biathlon/Triathlon will be allowed in the pool right after their age group is done. Please return the green form by Tuesday, June 14.
*Our class Grade 1 book is ready - Students will get to see it on Monday. They will bring it home on Tuesday. Hope you enjoy it! Also, next week your child will be bringing home a D.V.D. of class pictures that I took throughout the year.
*Orientation for Grade 2 - Thursday or Friday, June 23 & 24 - 8:30 - 10:00 a.m.
8 days left in Grade 1. It is going to be an interesting week! Take care of your crew!"
