May 2 - 6

I decided to go to Denver at the last minute to visit my grandkids and kids! I'm looking forward to spending Easter with them. I'm hoping the Easter Bunny will visit me there. I need a little chocolate to eat! Hope everyone has a wonderful Easter with family and friends. I am also wishing for warm weather for you and your kids, so that they can get out and play.
*May will be here when we come back. Sorry, but from then on, you will have to put up with a true senior citizen. This sounds a little scary! I'm not ready for some of my special privileges that I have apparently earned over the years. I will try very hard to not act my age!
*We had a magician come to our school on Thursday. The students loved it. I wished every one paid as much attention to me and as they did that afternoon. It was fun to watch the kids be amazed and bewildered.
*Wednesday, May 11 - Field Trip to Aggie Days. The form will be coming home on Monday, May 2. Be prepared to volunteer. We accept grandmas, grandpas, aunts, and sometimes parents! Hopefully, we will have 6 parent volunteers.
*Spelling Test - Our class has so many wonderful things to celebrate each week with beautiful printing, great sentence writing, and awesome job of spelling the words.
*Character Education for May - Initiative - We are going to be great leaders for the month of May. If you have any children's story books that would be great for reading and discussing, please send! Thanks!
*Home Reading - Wow! Awesome reading every night! Thank you for caring so much!
**May 9 - 13 Family Walk - Come and join us as we walk or run the track from 8:00 - 8:30 a.m. There will be class rewards for participation. Great family activity, plus you are setting a great example of showing your child how important it is to stay active. Keep practicing running around the block every night with your family!
*Running Shoes - Thanks for sending. I don't want to see another pair of snow boots until December 2011.
*Marathon Club - every Wednesday and Thursday at noon. Students run first and then come into the gathering area to eat. They log in their book at this time. They can record running when done at home also. Congratulations to those who are participating and to those of us that are doing it on our own.
*Check the Lost and Found
Weather - I am looking for some warm weather after the holidays.

April 11 - 15

9 school days until Easter Holidays. We accomplished alot this week. Your child is going to be in Grade 2 before you know it. We are concentrating on neatness again. Students had fun adding by 10 last week. This week we will concentrate on a clever way to add by 9 quickly. Students were eager to teach you how to change leaf to leaves and come to coming. Hope they showed you how to do it.
*Field Trip - Thursday, May 12. We are going to Aggie Days! I am hoping to be able to have 5 or 6 parent helpers. The field trip forms will be sent home shortly. Also we are looking for a parent or grandparent who would be willing to donate their time as our bus driver. Shawn Jensen, one of our Grade 1 teachers, will be driving one of the buses. This is a fun field trip for students and parents!!
*Family Celebration sheet - They are almost in now. Thanks!
*Cookie Dough - Should be arriving on Thursday, April 13.
*Home Reading - Remember that your child only has to read for 15 minutes every night, so they do not need to finish a book in one night. Thanks for reading and returning the reading sheet in the ziplock bag. Mrs. Gibb, my Educational Assistant, records all the reading for me. It is important that the reading sheet comes back everyday, because she records the reading into my book.
*Oakley's new baby brother is called Jace.
*Mrs. Vidal came to visit. She is going to have her baby Monday! We are excited for her! We as a class would like to buy her a baby present. If you would like to send a loonie, we will buy a present and give it to her when she comes back in a couple of weeks with her baby.
*Marathon Club starts Wednesday, April 12 at lunch time. It will be every Wednesday and Thursday until the end of June.
*Sports Day - Friday, May 27. Hopefully Monday we will be able to start practicing running around the track.
*Extra running shoes to be left at school.
*Check the lost and found in the Grade 5 & 6 hallway.
*Spelling - Wow! Students did an awesome job.
*Weather - Sporadic weather so be prepared every day with a light coat or hoodie.
Thanks for all of your help. Please let me know if you have any concerns. "Enjoy Your Crew!"
