April 11 - 15
9 school days until Easter Holidays. We accomplished alot this week. Your child is going to be in Grade 2 before you know it. We are concentrating on neatness again. Students had fun adding by 10 last week. This week we will concentrate on a clever way to add by 9 quickly. Students were eager to teach you how to change leaf to leaves and come to coming. Hope they showed you how to do it.
*Field Trip - Thursday, May 12. We are going to Aggie Days! I am hoping to be able to have 5 or 6 parent helpers. The field trip forms will be sent home shortly. Also we are looking for a parent or grandparent who would be willing to donate their time as our bus driver. Shawn Jensen, one of our Grade 1 teachers, will be driving one of the buses. This is a fun field trip for students and parents!!
*Family Celebration sheet - They are almost in now. Thanks!
*Cookie Dough - Should be arriving on Thursday, April 13.
*Home Reading - Remember that your child only has to read for 15 minutes every night, so they do not need to finish a book in one night. Thanks for reading and returning the reading sheet in the ziplock bag. Mrs. Gibb, my Educational Assistant, records all the reading for me. It is important that the reading sheet comes back everyday, because she records the reading into my book.
*Oakley's new baby brother is called Jace.
*Mrs. Vidal came to visit. She is going to have her baby Monday! We are excited for her! We as a class would like to buy her a baby present. If you would like to send a loonie, we will buy a present and give it to her when she comes back in a couple of weeks with her baby.
*Marathon Club starts Wednesday, April 12 at lunch time. It will be every Wednesday and Thursday until the end of June.
*Sports Day - Friday, May 27. Hopefully Monday we will be able to start practicing running around the track.
*Extra running shoes to be left at school.
*Check the lost and found in the Grade 5 & 6 hallway.
*Spelling - Wow! Students did an awesome job.
*Weather - Sporadic weather so be prepared every day with a light coat or hoodie.
Thanks for all of your help. Please let me know if you have any concerns. "Enjoy Your Crew!"
